After the Washington D.C. snow comes the bitter cold |
|
From Senior Meteorologist Bob Ryan Tonight: Cloudy and Windy Lingering Snow Flurries Lows 18-26 Monday: Some Morning Clouds. Becoming Partly Sunny but Windy and Cold Winds NW 20-30 m.p.h. Wind Chill 5-15 High 26-32 Tuesday: Mostly Sunny, Not as Windy but Cold Winds NW 10-15 m.p.h. High 34-39 The snow in our area is essentially over with some lingering flurries, but as the storm continues to get stronger south of New England the winds and cold will be the story for us on Monday. The edge of the snowstorm really brushed us with 2 to 5 inches across southern Maryland, while the Eastern Shore continues to see heavy drifting snow of more than 1 foot in some spots. Travel tomorrow up I-95 will be hazardous toward New Jersey and on into New England where a blizzard will continue.
The good news is that this is the last threat of a big snow for now. Later in the week, the pattern changes and before 2011 rolls in we will likely see temperatures in the low 50s. I’ll write a blog item about this storm and why all of us meteorologists could have (and with modern science) should have done a better job of helping you understand the threat or non-threat of what still is a brutal snowstorm for much of the Northeast. Stay tuned. read full article |
